Inside Outside
Carol Cocks

Highland Shelter

Mixed Media

33" x 23"
£900

Working from her studio near Kishorn, Carol Cocks finds inspiration in all that she sees, be that out in the rugged West Highland landscape, working from her Boatshed Studio or in her study.

“All my life I have drawn and painted. My inspiration came from the wild surroundings where I consider myself fortunate to have lived. Early days were spent in the Lake District high up in the hills above Ullswater."

Experimenting with mixed media and watercolour, Carol has enjoyed – indeed reveled –  in painting what she sees, whether that is in her study, her Boatshed studio or en plein air.

“I paint what I see, as do most artists, prompted hugely by weather but also by experience and changing emotions. You never come to the end,  never paint the perfect picture. I’m always wondering what will happen with a paintbrush and a blank sheet of paper. To quote Iris Murdoch ‘the world is in reality all inside outside’, and here are the results of my journey. I hope you enjoy looking at them.”
